FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I get to Puerto Escondido? Getting to Puerto Escondido is easy. You can travel direct by air from Mexico City (airport code PXM), and we will pick you and your family up at Puerto’s airport at no charge. Aeromar, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus provide regular service to and from Mexico City. When searching for flights, we suggest two searches, one from your origin city to Mexico City, and then a second from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido.  Once arrived in Puerto Escondido, our staff will be there to greet you at the airport and take you to camp.

Is it safe? Yes! Puerto Escondido is far removed from any violence or activity in other parts of Mexico. The area sees many tourists annually and walking around at night or taking a taxi is more than safe.

What day do I need to arrive/leave? Come any day you like! We start training Monday in the afternoon. If you don’t want to miss out on anything, we recommend you arrive Sunday that way you are relaxed and ready to train on Monday. Training sessions end on the following Saturday. If you wish to vacation longer and enjoy more of Mexico we can easily arrange extra nights at the resort at a reduced rate.

I'm a complete beginner, can I still join? Yes! Classes are designed for everyone!

What language will the classes be taught in? All classes will be taught in English, but we also have native Spanish and Portuguese speakers on hand.

Is it possible to do private lessons with the instructors? Yes, please talk with the instructors directly to make an appointment.

Is this just a BJJ workshop? No, it’s much more! Bring your family and friends for a relaxing and fun vacation in paradise. We’ll offer a wide array of excursions, plenty of beach time and tons of off the mat activities for all ages whether they train or not.

Do you have gym facilities? There are yoga classes offered at several locations around Puerto (including the hotel) and a fitness center a short walk down the street should you or your family want to work out during your stay. Or… take a nice run on the beach!

When will there be training? Training will run in the late afternoon for 2 hours on Monday and then in the morning and afternoon/early evening for the rest of the week. Our first session typically starts between 10am and 11am daily.

Will I be allowed to film during training? Yes. But always ask the instructors permission prior to filming.

Is there a supermarket / other amenities near the hotel? Yes, just a short walk away are stores, bars, restaurants and pharmacies should you need anything. Taxis are also available for longer distances and very inexpensive.

Is there WiFi available? Yes, there is a high speed WiFi connection at the hotel.

Where can I wash my training clothes? We offer free daily laundry service.

What kind of food are you serving? BJJ in Paradise offers high quality food throughout the event. Fresh fruits, eggs, juices and hearty lunches are available from the great restaurant and chefs at Hotel Santa Fe and several other dining options around Puerto.

Is there an option for vegetarian food? Yes. Accommodating vegetarians and vegans is no problem.

How is the nightlife? Amazing. Puerto is a great mix of family-friendly, safe and quiet and fun and vibrant night-life. There is something for everyone!
